TOWN OF HEMPSTEAD AND STEW LEONARD’S TO ANNOUNCE SEARCH FOR HOTTEST NEW FOOD PRODUCT FROM LONG ISLAND
EAST MEADOW, NY (May 3, 2019) – Town of Hempstead Supervisor Laura Gillen and Stew Leonard, Jr. will be joined by Long Island Chamber of Commerce officials and the family who founded Snapple to announce a shop local ”Long Island” campaign with Stew’s Tank, a contest searching for Long Island’s hottest new food product, on Friday, May 3rd 2019 at 10:30 AM at Stew Leonard’s food store, located at 1897 Front Street, East Meadow NY 11554.
The winning products will be showcased in front of over 50,000 people per week at Stew Leonard’s stores across the region. Snapple was created by a pair of window washers almost 50 years ago that lived in the Town Hempstead. They introduced a new alternative to soda and then recently sold it for over one billion dollars.
The family that founded Snapple will also be announcing a new beverage product that comes naturally from birch trees. Many famous products received their start at Stew Leonard’s, such as Rao’s marinara sauce, Paul Newman’s salad dressing and Bear Naked granola. Dozens of Long Island food and beverage products are sold at Stew Leonard’s supermarkets.
