Rare Calico Lobster Snaps into Norwalk!
Lobster on Display at Stew Leonard’s Starting on Jan. 11 & Will Be Donated to The Maritime Aquarium
Stew Leonard’s seafood department received an unexpected guest in a recent delivery of live lobsters from Maine: a 1.5 pound male calico-colored lobster! The chance of finding a calico lobster is 1 in 30 million.
The half brown-half orange lobster, who is alive and will be on display in the seafood department of Stew Leonard’s in Norwalk in a special maritime tank staring January 11, will be a guest of the Leonard family until January 19, 2017. After that time, he will take up permanent residency in The Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk.
However, before this charming crustacean moves to his new digs in SoNo, Stew Leonard’s is asking kids to participate in a “Name Our Calico Lobster” contest! From January 11-18, children ages 4-10 are encouraged to visit Stew’s in Norwalk and write in a suggested name for the lobster. The winner of the contest will receive a family four-pack of tickets to The Maritime Aquarium. (Please see in-store for complete rules.)
