Imitation Crab Meat Recall
Norwalk, Conn. – August 7, 2017 – A shopper from Stew Leonard’s store in Danbury returned a package of imitation crab meat to our customer service department on August 6, 2017 after reportedly having found shards of metal in the product. Stew Leonard’s immediately pulled all of the imitation crab meat from the shelves and checked these packages for metal as well as for any other foreign objects. Nothing was found and this appears to be an isolated incident. Stew Leonard’s is working with the outside supplier who provides the imitation crab meat to determine how the product was contaminated as all of their product goes through a detailed inspection process. The supplier additionally inspected 60 cases of imitation crab meat from the same lot and nothing was found.
The health and safety of our shoppers remains our top priority. Any customers who purchased imitation crab meat or Stew Leonard’s seafood salad with a sell by date of August 12, 2017 from Stew Leonard’s are encouraged to return the product for a full refund.
