Simmered Red Cabbage with Apples

To taste

1. Heat the oil in a heavy pan over medium setting. Add the onions and apples, and sautÈ until the apples soften (about 8 minutes).

 

2. Add the vinegar, sugar, mustard, and caraway seeds. Heat for a few minutes to melt the sugar. Add the wine or water, carrots, and cabbage. Add seasonings to taste.

 

3. Simmer, covered, for 25 to 35 minutes.
