Stew Leonard’s Norwalk Store Hosts 2015 Christmas Tree & Menorah Lighting Ceremonies

WHAT:
Stew Leonard’s Norwalk store invites the community to celebrate Christmas and Hanukkah this year with its annual Tree and Menorah Lighting celebrations:

Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration: Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 5:30 P.M.
Stew Leonard’s Norwalk store is kicking off the 2015 holiday season with its annual Christmas tree lighting celebration. The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m., with plenty of musical entertainment and more to get the crowd into the spirit of the season!

Santa and Mrs. Claus will spend the evening mingling with the children and handing out candy canes. Complimentary hot cocoa and cookies will be served.

This year’s tree, a 35 foot Balsam, was donated by the Longmuir family of Norwalk. When the family moved into their house during the summer of 1979, they planted this tree during the family’s first Christmas celebration that December. “We wanted to donate our tree because it has gotten so big that we were concerned it would come down in a storm and take out power lines. Rather than cut it down and put it through a chipper, we wanted everyone to enjoy it one last time,” said Annette and Bob Longmuir.

The Longmuir family will join members of the Leonard family, local dignitaries, and Santa and Mrs. Claus on stage to lead the countdown to the lighting.

Menorah Lighting Celebration: Monday, December 7, 2015 at 5:00 P.M.
Stew Leonard’s Norwalk store is celebrating Chanukah, the Festival of Lights, with its 23rd annual menorah lighting celebration. The celebration starts with Rabbi Yehoshua Hecht of Beth Israel of Westport/Norwalk lighting an 18-foot menorah. Following the menorah lighting is a celebration complete with live music holiday song and dance and complimentary Kosher refreshments and juice. Traditional dreidels and chocolate gelt will be distributed to all.

Local dignitaries from Norwalk and Westport will be on hand to partake in Fairfield County’s largest menorah lighting celebration.
