FEDERAL, STATE, AND COUNTY OFFICIALS TO OPEN $400-MILLION STEW LEONARD’S ICONIC SUPERMARKET CHAIN IN NEW JERSEY WITH 350 NEW JOBS AND HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF SHOPPERS

PARAMUS, NJ, September 20, 2019 — United States Senator Bob Menendez and Bergen County Executive James Tedesco, and Paramus Mayor Richard LaBarbiera, will join Stew Leonard, Jr., CEO of Stew Leonard’s, for the official opening and ribbon cutting ceremony of Stew Leonard’s first grocery store in the State of New Jersey, Tomorrow, Friday, September 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Paramus Park Mall, 700 Paramus Park, Paramus. A 31-foot birthday card in honor of New Jersey Legend Bruce Springsteen’s 70th Birthday will be unveiled. The card will be the nation’s largest birthday card with signatures from New Jersey residents. Members of the Bruce Springsteen Fan Club will be attending. Stew Leonard’s bakery is making a huge, guitar shaped cake.

Over 1million fans, customers, and mall-goers are expected to sign the card, which will be presented to “The Boss” by the New Jersey Hall of Fame later in the month. Currently, the record for the nation’s largest card and most signatures was set in 2012 at the Mall of America in Minnesota. Bruce Springsteen will turn 70 on September 23, 2019, and fans hope to have hundreds of thousands of signatures for the big day.

The 80,000 square foot store is bringing more than 350 new jobs in the region. The new Paramus location will be replacing a famed 45-year-old Sears department store. New Jersey, known as “The Garden State,” is home to over 10,000 farms encompassing over 8,000 acres of farmland and a thriving agricultural industry, among the top ten producing agricultural states in the union. Stew Leonard’s will be taking produce from hundreds of regional farms to be available for local residents. Over 20 million shoppers go to Stew Leonard’s annually.
