STEW LEONARD III CHILDREN'S CHARITIES HOSTS SAFETY DAY AT STEW'S GRILL AT CALF PASTURE BEACH
Tuesday, July 21st from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M
WHAT:
To teach kids important safety skills and how to be advocates for their well-being, Stew Leonard III Children’s Charities has teamed up with the American Red Cross, the New York Life Insurance Company and the Norwalk Police and Fire Departments to educate kids about water safety, fire prevention, stranger danger and bike safety as well as provide parents with a free child identification kit.
Stew Leonard, Jr. will kick off Safety Day with an introduction to kids and their parents. He'll then do a book reading of Stewie the Duck Learns to Swim, a child's first guide to water safety. The book conveys three simple, yet important messages about how kids can help themselves be safe near the water. They'll learn the messages through a rhyming song sung to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and led by Stew Leonard, Jr.
A representative from the American Red Cross will be handing out water safety activity pages.
Representatives from the New York Life Insurance Company will be available to prepare and provide FREE Child Identification Kits (digital fingerprints, photo, video of child) for parents to have in case their child goes missing. Kits usually range from $35-$50.
from the Norwalk Fire Department will run smokehouse demonstrations at regular intervals. The smokehouse is a trailer in which a fire is simulated with artificial smoke and the inspectors teach both kids and adults the steps for escaping safely.
A Norwalk Police Department officer will conduct interactive activities for kids to learn about stranger danger and bike safety.
Stewie the Duck will hand out a coupon to every child 10 and under to receive a FREE ice cream at Stew's Grill.
