HIKE TO STEW
LEONARD’S AND SCORE A TOUCHDOWN
AT YOUR SUPER BOWL PARTY
|
NORWALK,
Conn., January 12, 2004 – After Thanksgiving, Super Bowl
Sunday is the largest day for food consumption, according to
the American Institute of Food Distribution. It is also the No.
1 at-home party day of the year. Whether you are a football fan,
or just like watching the new commercials, everyone can agree
on one thing: the food! |
| |
Last year’s game was the most watched
program ever with more than 138 million viewers. This year, Super Bowl
XXXVIII takes place on February 1 in Houston, TX -- only a few weeks
away. Stew Leonard’s can help tackle party planning with everything
needed for a Super Bowl super food fest.
|
| |
“You don’t want to be fumbling
in the kitchen, so to stay off the sidelines on Super Bowl Sunday, focus
on finger foods and avoid getting too fussy or fancy,” said Chef
George Llorens, Stew Leonard’s Executive Chef. “Stew
Leonard’s
can help you gain major yardage with your guests with our freshly prepared
dips, hot and cold appetizers, party platters, pizza and three-foot grinders.”
|
| |
Since a game can last for four hours, serve food
in stages. Here are Chef George’s suggestions and tips for a
super, Super Bowl Sunday Menu:
Pre-Game
As guests arrive, have snacks set-up. A rule of thumb is to have three
snack choices for every six guests invited |

|

The King of Beverages
Beer is unquestionably the beverage of choice at Super Bowl parties. Plan
on having one case of beer on hand for every four guests, as well as
one to two bottles of wine and assorted water, soda and coffee.
|
| |
| “One out of every four beers we sell is Budweiser,” said
Scott Hill, manager of Stew Leonard’s Norwalk Wine Shop. “Michelob
Ultra is very popular for customers counting carbs, while Sam Adams and
Sierra Nevada are the best-selling micro brews. A wild card is Stella Artois,
which is the No. 1 selling beer in Europe and has really taken off since
it became available in the U.S.” |
| |
| Stew Leonard’s, a family-owned and operated grocery founded in
1969, has three stores in Norwalk and Danbury, Conn. and Yonkers, NY.,
