Stew Leonard's Newington Store Offers Monthly Children's Cooking Classes in 2010

WHAT:
Stew Leonard's Newington store is offering themed cooking classes for children between the ages of five and 12 years-old each month in 2010. The children receive hands-on instruction in preparing various products each themed around a specific holiday or event for the given month. They also learn about the importance of measuring, cooperation skills in the kitchen and the importance of food safety.

Classes are for children ages 5-12. Children do not need to be accompanied by an adult, although parents are welcome to observe.

WHEN:
All classes, with the exception of our April Tea Party, will be held on Friday evenings, from 6pm to 8pm. Tea Time will be on a Saturday from 11am to 1pm. Classes for the first six months are listed below.

January 29th: Come in from the cold with our Warm Comfort Foods! Learn to make Hot Chocolate from scratch, Chicken Pot Pie and Magic Cookie Bars. Take home your own hot cocoa mix to share with your friends. 6p -8p

February 12th: We will make Valentine parfaits, Sweet-heart sugar cookies and our very own, "Love Potion". Kids will make a take-home container for their home-made treats! 6p – 8p

March 12th: Turn Green with our Leprechaun parfaits, Green Macaroni and Cheese and Shamrock Shakes. *Wear green to our class and you get a special gift. 6p -8p

April 17th: "Tea Time!" Girls, come join us for finger sandwiches and tea. We will make tea cakes and brew our own tea as we dine off of real tea sets. 11a – 1p

May 7th: Mother's Day Brunch-We'll learn to make Banana Split pancakes, fresh squeezed juices and a special card for MOM. 6p -8p

June 4th: We can't forget the Dad's... Father's Day Breakfast: Make Dad home-made muffins, Omelets and fresh OJ. 6p -8p
