PRIZED BUDWEISER CLYDESDALES
COMING TO STEW LEONARD’S YONKERS STORE

Thursday, June 5 from 2 PM to 5 PM

WHAT:
Stew Leonard’s Yonkers store welcomes the prized Budweiser Clydesdales. Three of the horses will be on hand for children and adults to observe and take photos with.

Known for their size, strength and distinctive features, the Budweiser Clydesdales tour regularly across the country, visiting sites such as Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia, Sea World in Orlando, Florida and now Stew Leonard’s in Yonkers, New York.

To be tapped as a Budweiser Clydesdale, the horses must meet required size and aesthetic qualifications. Each horse must be bay in color and have a white blaze of fur on their face, a black mane and tail, and white feathering on their legs and feet. When fully mature, they must stand 72 inches tall—or 6 feet—and weigh between 1,800 and 2,300 pounds.

The tradition of touring the Clydesdales began back in 1933 when August A. Busch, Jr. gave his father a team of Clydesdales and a bright red brewery wagon to celebrate the end of Prohibition. Anheuser Busch, parent company to Budweiser, owns the largest herd of Clydesdales in the world with about five stallions and 40 mares in the herd and about 25 foals born each year.
