STEP-OUT TO STEW’S FOR A SHAMROCK SHINDIG
Stew Leonard’s Norwalk Store Celebrates St. Patrick’s Day with Irish Foods,
Step Dancing and Bag Pipe & Drum Corp Performances
WHAT:
Stew Leonard’s is hosting a Shamrock Shindig, celebrating all things Irish,
featuring traditional foods, dancing and music.
Saturday, March 10 3:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M.
Irish Music: The Celtic Cross Pipes & Drums will make a special stop at Stew’s.
This 23 member group of bag pipers and drummers was formed in Danbury, Conn.
in 1990 and is led by Pipe Major Sean Lyons and Drum Major Dan McKee.
The group has performed at hundreds of parades, including New York City’s
St. Patrick’s Day Parade. This is their fifth annual appearance at Stew Leonard’s.
Sunday, March 11 1:00 P.M.-3:00 P.M.
Irish Dancing: The award-winning dancers from Pender-Keady Academy, named the
top-rated Irish dancing school in Connecticut, will make their fifth annual
appearance at Stew’s. The dancers range in age from five to 15, and include
New England Regional Champion dancers as well as qualifiers for the World
Championships in Scotland this April. They will be dancing reels, hornpipes,
jigs and team dances called a Ceili.
Irish-themed Food: During the week leading up to St. Patrick’s Day, Stew
Leonard’s bakery will be stocked with soda bread, green bagels, shamrock
cookies and cupcakes. The hot bar will serve up corned beef and cabbage,
along with colcannon and Irish stew. The specialty cheese section has Irish
cheeses, and the dairy section has gourmet butter from Ireland.
WHO:
Adults and children of all ages are welcome to attend these free performances.
