STEW LEONARD'S NEWINGTON STORE ANNOUNCES CHILDREN’S COOKING CLASSES AND ADULT COOKING DEMONSTRATIONS

NEWINGTON, Conn., Oct. 24, 2007 -- One of the many features of Stew Leonard's newest store, located on the Berlin Turnpike in Newington, is a fully-equipped demonstration kitchen, located on the store's second level. That kitchen is about to be put to good use with the introduction of both children's cooking classes and adult cooking demonstrations.

"Some of the major barriers to getting more people cooking in the kitchen is lack of time and their real or perceived lack of knowledge – whether it is how to plan a meal and shop for groceries, or even learning basic cooking skills and terminology," said Chaz Fable, executive chef at Stew Leonard’s Newington store. "The goal of the adult cooking classes is to give people confidence in the kitchen to be able to prepare a great meal quickly and easily, and to have fun doing it. With the children, it is all about teaching them safety and cleanliness, but also about getting them excited about cooking and eating healthfully."
