STEW LEONARD’S CATERS NAUTICA\\GQ KAYAK FOR A CAUSE BEACH PARTY

Don’t Miss Out on the Party of the Summer Landing on Veteran’s Park in Norwalk, July 28th

NORWALK, Conn., June 29, 2007 – The seventh annual Nautica\\GQ Kayak for a Cause event takes place on July 28th, with more than 300 kayakers paddling 12.5 miles across Long Island Sound -- from Norwalk’s Calf Pasture Beach to Crab Meadow Park in Northport, New York -- to raise a total of $500,000 for five area charities: Save the Sound, Hole in the Wall Gang Camps, Courage to Speak Foundation, Cancer Care and Outward Bound of Connecticut.

For the third year in a row, Stew Leonard’s will be catering the beach bash after party, taking place at Veterans Park in South Norwalk and featuring live entertainment from Sony music’s Ryan Shaw and a performance by the legendary Neville Brothers.

"This is the party of the summer and Stew Leonard’s is thrilled to be catering Nautica\\GQ Kayak for a Cause Beach Party, bigger and better than ever," said Stew Leonard, Jr. President and CEO of Stew Leonard’s. "The VIP tickets for the lobster and filet mignon dinner always sell out, so this year, to make the party more accessible, we will be offering picnic basket dinners which also include admission to the concert."

Each picnic basket comes with a choice of a themed menu that serves two people plus a Nautica beach blanket and admission to the concert for $150.00. The three menu choices include:

French Picnic Basket

  • Watercress salad with red onions and grapefruit; Brie and pate with a French baguette and crackers; roasted salmon with grilled asparagus and saffron risotto, two peach and blackberry rustic tarts
Italian Picnic Basket
  • Antipasto plate with cheeses, charcuterie and baguette; fusilli pasta with cherry tomatoes and mozzarella; lemon herb chicken with sautéed summer vegetables and two peach and blackberry rustic tarts.
Vegetarian Picnic Basket
  • Mixed greens with roasted beets, raspberries and goat cheese; pasta bowl with artichokes, eggplant and roasted peppers; French baguette; wild mushroom risotto cakes with red pepper coulis and two peach and blackberry rustic tarts.

All food is freshly prepared by Stew Leonard’s chefs. To view a video with Stew Leonard’s executive chef George Llorens on the dishes in each basket, please click here.
