2017 HALLOWEEN HAPPENINGS AT STEW LEONARD’S NEWINGTON STORE
Stew Leonard’s Newington store announces the Halloween Happenings it is hosting throughout the month of October 2016, including free family movie nights on Fridays, a free Hay Maze, and family-friendly activities throughout the month!
Halloween Hay Bale Theater
This October 2017, Stew’s Garden Shoppe will be transformed into a Hay Bale Theater to show a free children’s Halloween-themed movie! The movies will be shown on Friday, October 6; Friday, October 13; Friday, October 20; and Friday, October 27. For movie titles and additional information, please see in-store. The movies begin at 7:00 P.M., with seating opening at 6:30 P.M. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Kids can also dance to Halloween music with their favorite Stew’s characters before the movie starts! Snacks will be provided.
Pumpkin Carving Demo
Pumpkin carver Lenny Calvin will be at the store on Saturday, October 7, 2017 to bewitch shoppers with his elaborate Halloween-themed etchings on the store’s pumpkins.
The carving will take place from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. for customers to see and enjoy as they pick out their own pumpkins. The carver will use knives, chisels, and X-Acto knives to create a spooky scene on the pumpkins.
Stew Leonard’s 2nd Annual Pie Eating Contest
Kids and adults are invited to belly on up to the picnic table on October 14 from 11 a.m. – Noon at Stew Leonard’s in Newington to participate in a classic family event: a pie eating contest! All registered contestants will have 2 minutes to eat as many freshly baked Stew Leonard’s pumpkin or blueberry pies as they can.
There are two categories in the pie eating contest and two separate prizes. Kids ages 6-11 will complete for a Jumbo Fall Gift Basket, which includes a Visa gift card, Beanie Babies, Halloween treats, and more. Contestants age 12 to adult will compete for a $100 Visa gift card!
Contestants must register in advance at http://www.stewleonards.com/events-at-stew-leonards/. It is free to register and there is a limit of 25 participants per division. Customers are also invited to cheer on the participants and enjoy the bite-by-bite color commentary as provided to the crowd by a Stew Leonard’s Team Member.
For every pie eaten during the contest, Stew Leonard’s will donate one pie during Thanksgiving week to the Department of Human Services in Newington to be distributed to families in need.
Halloween Breakfast with the Characters
On Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 9:00 a.m., families are invited to attend a Halloween Breakfast with Stew’s most loved characters. . Tickets are $9.99/each for children aged 11 & under and $12.99/each for all those over the age of 12. Kids are encouraged to wear their costumes. Trick-or-Treat with the Stew Leonard’s Characters
On Monday, October 30, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., children are invited to dress in their costumes and come to Stew Leonard’s in Newington to go trick or treating. Each department in the store will have a candy station for kids to stop at. Children can come with their own bags, or Stew Leonard’s will provide one for them. Stew Leonard’s famous characters, including mascot Wow the Cow, will be available for taking photos with the children.
**Due to a high level of interest from our shoppers, Stew Leonard’s in Newington will offer free tickets to the Trick-or-Treat event to 500 kids. This is for the safety and comfort of all of our customers. Please visit our website for registration**
Kids Hay Maze
Kids of all ages will delight in Stew Leonard’s Hay Maze, located under the tent in the Pumpkin Patch. The Hay Maze is open every day in October from 8:00 A.M. until dark.
