Classic Fall Family Event to Help Feed the Hungry in Community
WHAT:
Kids and adults are invited to belly on up to the picnic table on October 22 at Stew Leonard’s in Newington to participate in a classic family event: a pie eating contest! All registered contestants will have 2 minutes to eat as many freshly baked Stew Leonard’s pumpkin or blueberry pies as they can.
There are two categories in the pie eating contest and two separate prizes. Kids ages 6-11 will complete for a Jumbo Fall Gift Basket, which includes a Toys R Us gift card, Beanie Babies, Halloween treats, and more. Contestants age 12 to adult will compete for a $100 gift card to Stew Leonard’s.
Contestants must register in advance at Stew Leonard’s Customer Service Desk, located at 3475 Berlin Turnpike in Newington. It is free to register and there is a limit of 25 participants per division. Customers are also invited to cheer on the participants and enjoy the bite-by-bite color commentary as provided to the crowd by a Stew Leonard’s Team Member.
For every pie eaten during the contest, Stew Leonard’s will donate one pie during Thanksgiving week to the Department of Human Services in Newington to be distributed to families in need.
