GRASSLAND DAIRY
In 1904, a Swiss immigrant named John S. Wuethrich became the general manager of a creamery in Greenwood, Wisconsin, where he made butter using cream from the neighboring farms. Today, that creamery is Grassland Dairy, a fifth-generation family-owned business that's been supplying butter to Stew Leonard's since the 1980s.
Grassland buys their milk from about 500 local family-owned farms which gives their butter a pure, delicious taste that comes from cows raised on all-natural diets in the prairies of Wisconsin.
After more than 60 years on the job, John S. Wuethrich's grandson, Dallas, retired from the company this past year. But true to the Wuethrich family commitment to quality butter produced at the highest standard, Dallas is still in the plant before sunrise each day before meeting his own two sons and grandsons upstairs in the office for a cup of coffee.
