STEW LEONARD’S CELEBRATES HATCH CHILE SEASON WITH
FIRE-ROASTED HATCH CHILES
Farm Fresh Food Retailer to Fire-Roast Hatch Chiles Right in Front of Customers’ Eyes
Stew Leonard’s in Farmingdale and East Meadow, N.Y. will host an authentic fire-roasting of hatch green chile peppers from September 21 – 23, 2018. Customers will have the opportunity to taste and purchase fire-roasted or unroasted Hatch chiles as well as fresh salsa made with Hatch chiles.
Hatch chiles are long green chiles that are exclusively grown in the Mesilla Valley near Hatch, New Mexico. They have a robust, spicy flavor and release a zesty aroma as they are roasted over an open flame.
Hatch chiles can be enjoyed in a variety of recipes or even roasted at home. To roast at home, set oven burners on medium and let the chiles blister a little bit before rotating. Seal the charred chiles in a plastic bag and let them sweat in the fridge or on the counter. Once they are cool, separate the flesh of the pepper by peeling off the charred outer layer. Roasted Hatch Chiles can keep in the freezer for months!
Friday, September 21 at Stew Leonard’s in East Meadow from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
