Brexit Blues? There’s a Burger for That.
Overwhelming Number of Stew Leonard’s Shoppers Report that All-American Comfort Food is Key to Weathering International Crisis
Norwalk, Conn. – July 1, 2016 – Stew Leonard’s conducted a survey of customers this week via social media regarding how – or if – Brexit would impact their Fourth of July holiday food shopping plans. The majority responded that the past week’s international political and financial turmoil would have no impact on their plans to celebrate this most American of holidays.
“I’m still planning on grilling my burgers, hot dogs, and corn this weekend!” notes Stew Leonard Jr., President & CEO of Stew Leonard’s.
However, those customers who seek a bit of EU flair for this weekend’s festivities can enjoy their very own Stew Leonard’s Brexit Burger. Made fresh by hand and available in Stew Leonard’s meat department, the Brexit Burger is a mix of freshly ground beef and Sweet Red English Cheddar. Stew Leonard’s chefs recommend enjoying a Brexit Burger this weekend smothered with sautéed Brussels Sprouts on a French Brioche bun!
“I was just down at the Fancy Food Show in New York City earlier this week, and we met up with our English cheese importer,” says Leonard. “He told us about a fantastic grass fed, aged cheddar cheese that he’s selling called Sweet Red English Cheddar and he asked us to help him promote it! We got a few hundred pounds for the stores and are excited for our customers to celebrate this weekend with a big, juicy Brexit burger on the grill! ”
Brexit Burgers will be available at Stew Leonard’s starting Saturday, July 2 for $8.99/lb.
