A great store. What did we learn?
We visited Wegman’s in Richmond, VA, and were impressed by their presentation of meats in the deli section. As a result, Danbury tried redesigning the deli case and in 2 weeks, the pre-packed cold cut sales doubled!

The cold and rainy spring weather caused a lot of gaps for produce. Prices were almost double for products like watermelons and corn.
Do you know Hayden’s story? What a nice young man.
Hayden, in the Danbury store, met a customer whose house had just burned down and the family lost everything. He exchanged phone numbers with the customer and the next day showed up at her door with bags full of clothing. Before leaving to serve in the U.S. Navy.

My dad loves greeting customers at the door. He was talking to so many people, it almost caused a traffic jam!
What did we serve at the Stewie the Duck volunteer dinner?
We dumped big pots of lobsters and clams right onto the table and dug in. It was a wonderful night to thank the volunteers for all that they do for the charity.

Corn! We took a trip to the local, 4th generation family business, March Farms in Bethlehem, CT. They deliver sweet, fresh corn to Stew’s every morning.
Norwalk’s Ripken All Star team? Did they win?
The Cal Ripken 10U All Star Baseball Team went all the way to the WORLD series. They didn’t end up winning, but there’s always next year!
