2019 HALLOWEEN HAPPENINGS AT STEW LEONARD’S NORWALK STORE

WHAT:
Stew Leonard’s Norwalk store announces Halloween happenings it is hosting throughout the month of October 2019.

Halloween Hay Bale Theater
This October 2019, Stew’s Hoedown will be transformed into a Hay Bale Theater to show a free children’s Halloween-themed movie! Complimentary juice and popcorn are served to all. The movies begin at 7:00 P.M., with seating opening at 6:30 P.M. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

The movies will be shown on Friday, October 11 and Friday, October 18. For movie titles and additional information, please see in-store.

Halloween Hayride Spooktacular ($1 per person; free for children age 3 and under)
This is a 10-minute family-friendly hayride that weaves through a course of more than twenty vignettes, including scenes of popular movie and television characters, traditional holiday settings, and a musical light show. The maiden hayride takes place on Saturday, October 5 runs through Thursday, October 31, 2019.

Hours of operation are:
Monday through Friday: 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
Saturday and Sunday: 9:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M.

Pumpkin Carving
Pumpkin carver Lenny Calvin, former contestant on Food Network’s Halloween Wars Season 6, will be at the store on Sunday, October 6, 2019 to bewitch shoppers with his elaborate Halloween-themed carvings on the store’s pumpkins.

The carving will take place from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the Garden Shop for customers to see and enjoy as they pick out their own pumpkins. The carver will use clay tools and X-Acto knives to create a spooky scene on the pumpkin.

Book Signing & Wand Making with Steve Simmons, author of Alice and Greta
Local Connecticut author Steve Simmons will be on hand to sign copies of his debut picture book, Alice and Greta, about two young witches who learn the timeless message that a good deed always triumphs over a bad one. A bewitching tale for children ages 3-7, this inspiring story is enhanced by Cyd Moore’s playful illustrations of Alice and Greta as they cast spells at Miss Mildew’s School of Magic. Former President Jimmy Carter noted, “The clever story and whimsical illustrations in Alice and Greta will delight children, with a good lesson about getting along with others.” Stew Leonard’s will sell the book for $11.99 each or 2 for $22 during the event.

The first 100 children at the book signing event can also make their very own Alice and Greta-themed magic wand! Two Stew Leonard’s Team Members will be dressed as the book’s main characters and will guide the children through the craft using colorful tulle and glitter ribbons. No purchase of the book is necessary to participate in the craft. The cost to make a wand is $2 per child.

The event will take place on Saturday, October 19 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Stew Leonard’s in Norwalk.

Halloween-Themed Breakfast at Stew’s
On Saturday, October 19, 2019, families can attend a Halloween Breakfast at 9:00 a.m. with Stew’s most loved characters, including Wow the Cow, Daphne the Duck, and Stewie the Duck. Families will enjoy a buffet-style breakfast of scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, hash browns, mini muffins, assorted bagels, and fruit salad. Tickets for children age 11 and under are $12.99/each and attendees age 12 and older are $14.99/each. No charge for kids age 2 and under. All adults attending the breakfast must have a paid ticket. Trunk or Treat at Stew Leonard’s
On Friday, October 25, 2019 from 6 – 8 p.m., kids can join Stew Leonard’s in Norwalk for their second annual Trunk or Treat event! Children, along with their families, will trick or treat from the trunks of dozens of decorated cars in the store’s parking lot. It is $1 per child to participate and signups will be held at the Norwalk store’s customer service desk starting on October 1, 2019. The Trunk or Treat event is limited to 500 children. Parents and caregivers are welcome to walk along but candy will be for the children.

A panel of Stew Leonard’s Team Members will also vote on the Trunk or Treat car that features the best spooky or wacky decorations! First place will win a $250 gift card to Stew Leonard’s while second place will win $150 and third place will win $50. All cars are kindly asked to supply candy for 500 children and to register their cars in advance via Eventbrite.com starting October 1, 2019 (search for Stew Leonard’s in Norwalk).

Stew Leonard’s Barkfest
This Halloween, dogs are invited to Stew Leonard’s for a howling good time at the store’s first Barkfest event on October 26, 2019! Customers may bring their pups dressed in their best Halloween costumes and enter for their chance to win a Bubba’s Barkery Gift Basket valued at $100, which contains fresh dog treats made in-house at Stew Leonard’s. To enter a dog, shoppers are kindly asked to bring a small bag or can of dog food and all collected dog food will be donated to a local pet shelter. In Norwalk, the event will begin at 10:30 a.m. and a winner will be selected by a panel of Stew Leonard’s judges by 11:00 a.m. For complete rules, please see in-store.
